501 Portuguese Verbs

BR Book Paid

A classic verb-conjugation reference in the Barron’s “501 verbs” series. Each verb gets a full page across present, preterite, imperfect, future, conditional, subjunctive, imperative, and compound tenses, with all six persons.

For students who like having a physical reference next to them while studying, this is the standard. For everyone else, online conjugators like Conjuga-me cover the same material for free. The book is still worth picking up cheap for the convenience of flipping to a specific verb without breaking your study flow.

Pros

  • Every verb fully conjugated across tenses and moods
  • Useful as a quick look-up reference
  • Includes essential verbs and many less common ones
  • Cheap on the used market

Cons

  • Brazilian-leaning; European forms not always called out
  • Bulky paperback; awkward to travel with
  • Online tools like Conjuga-me can replace much of its utility
